A lighthouse on the southwestern tip of Santorini, built in 1892 on cliffs 100 meters above sea level. One of the most famous lighthouses in Greece and one of the best spots on the island for watching the sunset — an alternative to the crowds in Oia and Fira. From the viewpoint, you have a view of the Aegean Sea, the entire caldera, the volcanic islands of Nea and Palea Kameni, and the silhouette of Therasia in the distance. The lighthouse is not open to visitors inside, but the surrounding viewpoint is free to access. The best time to arrive is 30 minutes before sunset — find a quiet cove to the side for photos without the crowds.
The lighthouse is publicly accessible and entry is free of charge. A visit at dusk is recommended for the spectacular view of the Aegean Sea.
