The largest aquarium in Croatia, housed in a 19th-century Austro-Hungarian fortress Verudela — the fortress itself is an attraction. The aquarium showcases numerous species of fish, sea turtles, sharks, crabs, and other inhabitants of the Adriatic Sea, as well as tropical fish. Especially popular among families with children due to its interactive exhibits and sea turtle rehabilitation center — where injured turtles are cared for before being released back into the sea. Open year-round, but most enjoyable in summer combined with a swim at the nearby beach.
The ticket covers all aquarium exhibits including Adriatic sea animals. Arriving in the morning is recommended to avoid crowds during the summer period.
