Begijnhof

Begijnhof is a tranquil historic courtyard in the heart of Amsterdam, established in the 14th century as a community of Beguines. It is surrounded by traditional houses and chapels, among which stands one of the oldest surviving wooden houses in the city. It represents one of the rare surviving examples of medieval Amsterdam.
