Caruggi — Historic Centre

Caruggi, the labyrinth of narrow streets in the historic core of Genoa, forms one of the largest preserved medieval city centers in Europe, covering an area of approximately 1 km². The network of passages, chapels, and palaces from the 12th to the 17th century is filled with small shops, focaccerie, and old portals leading to hidden courtyards with Baroque details. The area encompasses part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Genoese palaces.
