Caserta Vecchia

Caserta Vecchia

A medieval hilltop town above modern Caserta, founded in the 8th century, which lost its prominence after a devastating earthquake in 1456. Narrow stone streets, Norman architecture, and views over the Campanian plain make it one of the most beautiful historic areas of this region. It is still inhabited today, yet has retained the tranquil atmosphere of a small medieval town.
