One of the largest Orthodox churches in the Balkans, built between 1863 and 1872 in the Byzantine style with five domes. It is known for its impressive architecture and richly decorated interior — the iconostasis is the work of Russian master Shelapin, and the frescoes were painted by prominent Russian and Serbian artists of that period. A witness to the multicultural history of Sarajevo, it is located in the city center in close proximity to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Old Synagogue. It is an active church of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Entrance is free and photography is allowed without flash.
Entrance to the church is free and open to visitors throughout the day. Quiet and respectful behavior inside the church is recommended.
