Church of Saint Mary

A Gothic parish church from the 14th century dominates the northern side of the main square and represents one of the most significant historic buildings in Banská Bystrica. Its interior houses an altarpiece by Hans Holbein the Elder, created between 1485 and 1488, one of the rare northern Alpine Gothic works that remains to this day in its original location in Slovakia.
