Church of Saint Peter na Priku

The Church of Saint Peter na Priku was built in the 9th or 10th century, on the site of an early Christian church from the 6th century, and ranks among the most valuable examples of early Croatian pre-Romanesque architecture. It is a single-nave, domed church — the dome rests on pendentives in the central section, while the eastern and western parts are covered with cross vaults, a feature that reflects Byzantine influence. Next to the church, in 1750, Split Archbishop Pacifik Bizza founded a Glagolitic seminary, which operated until 1879.
