The Black Church is the most famous landmark of Brașov and one of the largest Gothic churches in southeastern Europe. It was built between the 14th and 15th centuries, and received its name after the great fire of 1689, when its walls were blackened by soot. The interior is known for its rich collection of Anatolian carpets, impressive organ, and spacious Gothic interior. The church is located in the very center of the old town, close to the main square Piața Sfatului.
Admission includes access to the museum exhibition. The ticket office is located directly next to the church. An early visit is recommended before group tours arrive.
