This small Ottoman-era stone bridge over the Radobolja river is considered a precursor to the Old Bridge — according to local tradition, it was built in 1558 as a 'test model' before architect Mimar Hayruddin moved on to constructing the Old Bridge over the Neretva. It is surrounded by cobblestone streets and traditional houses, and is one of the most photographed hidden corners of Mostar. Unlike the Old Bridge, which tourists invariably visit, the Crooked Bridge is often discovered only by those who venture off the main tourist route through Kujundžiluk. It is particularly photogenic in the morning hours when the sun illuminates the stone walls.
Entry to the bridge is free and accessible throughout the day. The bridge is part of the UNESCO-protected area of Old Mostar, and the surrounding area is rich with cafes and souvenir shops.
