Five minutes on foot from Princes Street, this former miller's settlement along the Water of Leith looks as though it belongs to an entirely different city. Stone bridges, 19th-century Tudor-style facades and a quiet riverside quay — from here, the walk towards the Stockbridge quarter takes another fifteen minutes or so and passes through one of Edinburgh's most beautiful areas.
Dean Village is a free historic quarter along the Water of Leith river, open for visits at any time of day. A walk along the Water of Leith Walkway is recommended for the most beautiful views.
