The museum is housed in a traditional 18th-century Ottoman house in the Mangalem quarter — one of the two historic districts of Berat that are part of the UNESCO-protected heritage. It displays the everyday life of families who lived in Berat for centuries — interiors with wooden galleries, guest rooms (oda) with traditional carpets, separate rooms for women and men, craft objects, and traditional folk costumes. It offers an authentic glimpse into life in the historic city before industrialization. The house itself is a valuable example of Ottoman civic architecture — wooden balconies (çikma) hanging over the street, a white facade with the characteristic 'Berat windows'. The ticket is around 200 lekë.
The ticket is very reasonably priced and includes viewing a collection of traditional Albanian costumes and artifacts. The museum is located in the old city center of Berat.
