The Christian part of Berat on the northern side of the Osum river, older and quieter than Mangalem. Churches from the 13th to the 16th century, narrow cobblestone streets, fewer tourists. The Mangalemi restaurant on the Gorica side has a terrace with a direct view of the illuminated Ottoman facade at sunset — reserve a table in advance if you are planning dinner.
Gorica is a residential quarter and part of the old town of Berat, open for free exploration. You can walk the streets and admire the traditional Ottoman houses at no charge.
