Graz Cathedral

A Gothic cathedral dedicated to St Aegidius, built between 1438 and 1464 on the orders of Emperor Frederick III — who personally oversaw its construction and had the initials AEIOU carved into the façade, an acronym for his personal motto. The interior houses a reliquary containing the remains of St Thomas Aquinas, as well as late-medieval frescoes in the apse depicting plague, locusts, and Turks as the three divine punishments that befell Graz in 1480.
