City Walls and Kastel

The remains of the Venetian city walls and the square tower Kastel are situated on the southwestern edge of the old town, offering views of Kvarner Bay and the Velebit mountain range in the background. The fortifications were built and restored from the early Middle Ages through the Venetian administration in the 15th and 16th centuries. The terrace beside Kastel is particularly popular at sunset.
