Hvar Fortress Fortica (Španjola)

A historic fortress rising above the town of Hvar, it is one of its most recognizable symbols. Its present appearance largely dates from the period of Venetian rule, when the fortification was expanded to protect the town and its harbor. From the fortress, there is a spectacular panoramic view of Hvar, the Hvar harbor, and the Pakleni Islands. Inside the fortress is a collection of historical exhibits that bring the island's rich past to life.
