Hvar Arsenal and Theatre

The Hvar Arsenal, dating from the 16th century, once served for the construction and maintenance of ships of the Venetian fleet. On its upper floor is the Hvar Theatre, opened in 1612, which is considered one of the oldest public theatres in Europe. Today the arsenal space is dedicated to cultural events and exhibitions, while the theatre continues to play an important role in the cultural life of the city.
