Independence Square (Sheshi i Flamurit)

The central square of Vlorë is linked to an event that changed the history of Albania — the declaration of independence in 1912. Today it is marked by the independence monument, national symbols, and sites connected to Ismail Qemali, the leader of the movement for the creation of the modern Albanian state.
