Lake Vrana

Lake Vrana

Lake Vrana is a large freshwater lake located in the interior of the island of Cres and one of its most important natural phenomena. It lies in a deep karst depression, with its surface above sea level while its bottom extends well below it. The lake is the main source of drinking water for the islands of Cres and Lošinj, which is why it is under a special protection regime — swimming and boating are not permitted. The surrounding nature provides habitat for numerous bird species and contributes to the unique landscape of the island.
