Castalian Spring

Type: historic site / nature

A spring located in the gorge between the Phaedriades rocks, where pilgrims ritually bathed before entering the sanctuary of Apollo. Today, the remains of two fountains are visible — an archaic and a Hellenistic one — carved into the rock. It is situated right along the path between the archaeological site and the museum, and entry is free.
