Bolzano Cathedral

This Gothic cathedral beside Waltherplatz is instantly recognisable by its roof of colourful glazed tiles and its slender stone bell tower. Inside, frescoes from several centuries and a stone pulpit await visitors, while along the side wall of the church stands the so-called 'Wine Portal', decorated with vine motifs that recall the central importance of wine to the city. The cathedral remains an active parish church and a gathering place for major religious celebrations.
