One of the oldest and most important mosques in Berat, built in the 15th century during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II (after whom it received the name 'King's'). It represents an important part of the city's religious and cultural heritage and one of the rare examples of early Ottoman sacred architecture in Albania. It is characterized by a simple square floor plan, a domed roof, and a low stone minaret. During the communist period (1967-1990) the mosque was closed and used as a warehouse — today it is once again an active place of worship and part of the UNESCO-protected historic core. It is located in the center of Berat, near the main bazaar. Entrance is free outside of prayer times.
Admission is free. The mosque is located in the Berat Fortress and is part of the historic complex on the UNESCO list.
