Paket Bathing Establishment

This public bathing establishment on the jetty in the Paket quarter first opened in 1872 as a wooden structure, and was rebuilt as a permanent facility in 1931–1932. In the late 1980s the city planned to demolish it, but in a 1988 referendum citizens rejected the plan with 72 per cent of the vote, and the establishment was subsequently restored. The referendum was initiated by a users' association founded in 1987. The facility continues to serve primarily as a place for swimming in the lake. Swimming takes place in summer, and from the jetty there are views of Žedo and the Old Town.
