A peculiar bookstore known for books stored in gondolas, bathtubs, and boats — as protection against the regular flooding (acqua alta) that inundates Venice every year. The name translates to 'Bookstore of High Water'. At the back of the bookstore there is a staircase made from old books that leads to a small viewpoint overlooking a canal — one of the most photographed spots in Venice on social media. Entrance to the bookstore is free, but the space is very small so crowds are frequent — arriving early in the morning is recommended. Known for piles of books in gondolas and kayaks.
