Spianada is one of the largest squares in Greece, once a Venetian esplanade, and today a park and the only place in Greece where cricket is played — a legacy of the British protectorate of the 19th century. Along the square stretches the arcaded row of cafes known as Liston, built in the style of the Rue de Rivoli in Paris. This is where the evening life of Corfu unfolds.
