A quieter and less tourist-crowded counterpart to the more famous Upper Barrakka Gardens, situated in the eastern part of Valletta along the city walls. From the terrace, you can enjoy views of the entrance to Grand Harbour and the neighboring fortified islands (Birgu, Senglea, Cospicua). At the center of the garden stands a neoclassical monument erected in honor of British Admiral Alexander Ball, who led the liberation of Malta from Napoleon's forces. Particularly beautiful in the late afternoon, when the light changes as it sets and most tourists have already left the Upper Gardens — an ideal combination of views and tranquility.
Public gardens free to visit without charge. A pleasant place for a walk in the center of Valletta, open during the day.
