Mercantile Museum

Mercantile Museum

The Mercantile Museum is housed in a baroque palace on arcades, the former seat of the commercial court that regulated the famous trade fairs of Bolzano from the 17th century onwards. Rooms filled with paintings, documents and furniture illustrate how this city, situated on the route between Italy and Germany, became an important centre of trade. A visit explains why the Lauben arcades came to be built and what life looked like for the merchants who stayed here.
