Mirogoj Cemetery

Mirogoj Cemetery

The main city cemetery opened in 1876 according to a design by architect Hermann Bollé, known for its imposing neo-Renaissance arcades and greenery that lead many to consider it one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe. Numerous prominent figures from Croatian history, culture and politics rest here, regardless of religious denomination. The arcades, domes and landscaped park create a unique atmosphere that makes Mirogoj a significant landmark of Zagreb as well.
