Monastery of the 40 Saints

The remains of a monastery from the Early Byzantine period are situated on a hill above the city, and it is from this very site that Saranda takes its name. Although mostly ruins have survived to this day, the site offers a good insight into the oldest layers of the region's history. Its position above the bay reveals a different perspective of the city and the coastline stretching toward Corfu.
