Hum
Vis, Croatia

Hum

Type: vidikovac

The highest point of the island of Vis (587 m above sea level) with a panoramic view of Komiža, the open sea, and the surrounding islands — including Biševo (home to the Blue Cave), Sveti Andrija, and in the distance the islands of Korčula and Hvar. At the summit stands a small 17th-century Church of the Holy Spirit, as well as the remains of military bunkers from the time when Vis served as a strategic Yugoslav military base. Particularly popular in the late afternoon for sunset views that illuminate the western coast and Komiža. Reachable by car (a paved road leads to the top) or by hiking trail from Komiža (approximately 2 hours of ascent, a demanding trail).
