Murinsel

Murinsel

A steel bridge in the shape of a spiral shell, opened in 2003 and designed by architect Vito Acconci — the only pedestrian bridge in Europe that features a small platform in its centre, complete with a café and greenery. The 56-metre structure spans the River Mur and functions as an island that can be rotated to allow vessels to pass. Originally designed for Graz as the European Capital of Culture in 2003, the bridge was subsequently retained as a permanent landmark.
