Museum of Dionysios Solomos

Museum of Dionysios Solomos

The Museum of Dionysios Solomos is dedicated to the Greek national poet Dionysios Solomos (1798-1857), author of the 'Hymn to Liberty', from which the text of the Greek national anthem is derived. It is located in a house in the old town of Corfu where the poet lived during the last thirty years of his life. The exhibition includes personal belongings, manuscripts, the first edition of the 'Hymn to Liberty', and Solomos's writing desk. The museum is run by the Society of Corfiot Studies and is part of Corfu's lesser-known but rewarding museums.
