Museum in the Bunker

The Museum in the Bunker is located between San Candido and Dobbiaco, in a fortification that formed part of the Alpine Wall defensive line, built during the Second World War. The bunker was not actually put into active use until the Cold War, when it served as part of NATO's defence against the Warsaw Pact. The underground rooms of concrete and steel now display radio equipment, field telephones, weapons, military supplies, and photographs of the former garrison. It is cold inside even in warm weather, so it is advisable to bring a jacket.
