National Theatre

The National Theatre building on the central square is tied to the theatrical tradition of Subotica since the mid-19th century, when its theatre wing was erected in 1854. The distinctive classicist facade with columns has long been one of the symbols of the city centre. The present-day National Theatre was founded in 1945 and stages performances in both Serbian and Hungarian.
