Noto Antica

The abandoned ruins of the original Noto, destroyed in the earthquake of 1693, lie on a plateau about 10 km from the present-day town. Within the deserted walls, fragments of churches, palaces and city gates overgrown with vegetation can be seen, while the views over the valley and surrounding countryside are exceptional. Visitors are greeted by the atmosphere of an abandoned place with no tourist infrastructure.
