National and University Library (NUK)

National and University Library (NUK)

The National and University Library is the work of Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik and is one of his most significant achievements. The brick and stone building is known for its monumental staircase and large reading room, with the layout of the spaces guiding the visitor from the darker ground floor to the bright reading room on the upper floor. The library is located in the heart of the old town and is one of the architectural symbols of Ljubljana.
