Located in the former Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary within the castle walls. The collection features icons by Onufri from the 16th century — an Albanian master of Byzantine painting known for the dark red color called 'Onufri red', obtained by combining pigment with gold leaf. Entrance is 4 euros and pairs well with a visit to the castle.
The ticket includes a visit to the museum of icon painting housed in the Church of St. Mary inside Berat Castle. A morning visit is recommended when there are fewer tourists.
