Zurich Opera House

Opened in 1891 on the site of an older theatre that had burned down, the Zurich Opera House is one of Europe's leading opera houses. Its neo-Baroque façade, featuring Ionic columns and gilded details, dominates the shore of Lake Bellevue, and the auditorium seats around 1,100. In 1937, the world premiere of Berg's opera 'Lulu' was held here, performed in its unfinished two-act version.
