This monumental memorial complex, designed by architect Bogdan Bogdanović in 1965, represents one of the most significant works of Yugoslav memorial architecture. Terraced stone plateaus, stone circles, and the symbolism of the space make it a unique historical site in Mostar — more of a sculpture garden in nature than a classical cemetery. The complex is dedicated to the partisans who fell in World War II and is one of the rare Bogdanović monuments preserved in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It often goes unnoticed by mainstream tourists, but lovers of architecture and history seek it out as a must-see. Access is free and it is open during the day.
Admission is free of charge throughout the entire year. The cemetery is open to visitors; maintaining silence and respect is recommended at this historic site.
