Pergamon Museum

Pergamon Museum

One of the most significant archaeological museums in Germany, located on the UNESCO-protected Museum Island, renowned for its ancient architecture displayed at original scale and for its collection of Islamic art. The building has been closed to visitors since 2023 due to a renovation that began in 2013. The north wing and central building will reopen on 4 June 2027, housing the Pergamon Altar and the complete permanent display of the Museum of Islamic Art; the south wing, which contains the main collection of the Museum of the Ancient Near East, will remain closed and offer only a temporary showcase until as late as 2037. Until the reopening, 'Pergamonmuseum. Das Panorama' is operating in the immediate vicinity.
