The third highest peak on Madeira (1,818 m) and one of the few mountain summits on the island reachable by car. From the viewpoints at the top, there are views of the mountain ranges, the clouds that often cover the lower parts of the island, and the trail leading toward Pico Ruivo. It is especially popular for sunrise, when the mountain peaks rise above the clouds and create a unique landscape.
Entrance to the Pico do Arieiro viewpoint is free and accessible year-round. A visit in the morning hours is recommended to avoid fog and crowds.
