Katerini is the most convenient starting point for visiting Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece (2,917 m) and the seat of the gods in Greek mythology. Olympus National Park offers hiking trails of varying difficulty, from easy walks to the ascent of the Mytikas summit. The natural beauty and mythological significance make it one of the most visited attractions in the region.
Entrance to the National Park is free. Good footwear and sufficient water are recommended. Climbing higher peaks requires hiking experience and prior preparation.
