Derinkuyu Underground City is one of the largest underground complexes in the world, carved into the volcanic rock of Cappadocia. It extends to a depth of approximately 85 meters across multiple levels connected by tunnels, rooms, and storage spaces. During the early Byzantine period it served as a shelter for the population during attacks, and today it stands as one of the most renowned landmarks in the region.
The ticket can be purchased on-site or online. The corridors are low and narrow — people with claustrophobia should be cautious. The temperature inside is around 13°C throughout the year.
