Red Island (St. Andrew)
Rovinj, Croatia

Red Island (St. Andrew)

Type: ostrvo

The largest island in the Rovinj archipelago, connected by a bridge to the smaller island of Maškin. It is known for its beautiful beaches (pebble and rocky), dense pine forests that provide shade, walking paths around the island, and the remains of a 6th-century Benedictine monastery that is today a hotel. The island is reached by regular boat lines from Rovinj harbor (about 15 minutes, departures on the hour). Ideal for a full-day family trip — swimming, walking, lunch at one of the restaurants on the island. Most beautiful before sunset, when the island offers a view of the silhouette of old Rovinj.

Tickets

Entry: 🟢 Free entry

The island is free to visit, entry is free of charge. It is reached by ferry or boat from Rovinj, which is the only cost.

⛰️ Heads up: Hilly approach — the uphill section may add about 25 percent to the walking time to the attraction.
