The stone promenade along the sea forms the heart of Perast and connects a series of historic palaces that evoke the city's rich maritime past. Unlike many coastal towns, there is no traffic or urban crowds here, so a walk along the bay has an entirely different rhythm. In the morning, Perast slowly awakens to the sounds of the sea, while in the evening the lights of the palaces and islands create one of the most beautiful atmospheres in the Bay of Kotor.
