A mile-long street that is actually a series of five streets connecting Edinburgh Castle to the west with the Palace of Holyroodhouse to the east. Walk from the castle toward the palace — along the way you will pass through Lawnmarket, the old High Street and Canongate, each with its own pace and side passages leading to hidden courtyards known as 'closes'.
