Royal Tobacco Factory

A monumental building constructed between 1728 and 1771, once the largest tobacco factory in Europe. It employed thousands of women known as cigarreras, who inspired the character of Carmen from Bizet's opera. Today it serves as the headquarters of the University of Seville, and visitors can explore the main hall and inner courtyards. It represents one of the most significant examples of industrial and Baroque architecture in the city.
