Beli Village and Griffon Vulture Reserve

Beli Village and Griffon Vulture Reserve

Beli is one of the oldest inhabited settlements on Cres, with remains of prehistoric burial mounds and a Roman fortification. Today it is known for the Griffon Vulture Protection Centre (Caput Insulae), the only such centre in Croatia, which runs educational programmes and takes in injured birds. A hiking trail leads from the village along the cliff edge to a nesting site.
