Silvestri Crater

Two extinct craters formed during the 1892 eruption are located at approximately 1,900 meters above sea level, right next to Rifugio Sapienza. They are accessible without a guide, and the visit takes about an hour. The black volcanic lava and the views of Etna's slopes make them one of the most accessible locations for experiencing the volcano up close.
