The Serbian National Theatre, founded in 1861 in Novi Sad, is one of the oldest professional theatres among the Serbs. The current modern building on Theatre Square brings together drama, opera and ballet, and is a recognizable landmark of the city centre. It represents one of the pillars of cultural life in Novi Sad.
